The farm can be found about 2km.
from the centre of Abbateggio, a characteristic village in the Majella
National Park in Abruzzo. It is in a splendid panoramic position with
a view that sweeps over the peaks of Majella and Morrone to those of
Gran Sasso to then take in the Adriatic sea.
In the middle of the 10 hectare property of fields and oak woods, 500m.
above sea level, at the foot of the Majella mountain, there are two
characteristic stone farmhouses – one dating back to the late
1800’s and the other to the early 1900’s – where our
guests are welcomed.
Large outdoor spaces are available for rest, relaxation or stretching
legs. A few particularly suggestive areas of the property will be pointed
out for reading or meditation. In other parts, it is possible to take
advantage of the lack of illumination and, at night, lying in a field,
admire the starry sky listening to the sounds of nature.
Guests will be guided in the discovery of the marvels of the woods and
helped to recognize the numerous trees. They will be able to enjoy the
beauty of flowering cyclamens and the remarkable presence of many species
of wild orchids (Orchis maculate I., Orchis purpurea Hudson) and numerous
other delightful wild flowers ( on Majella there are 2100 varieties of
flora, a third of those present over the whole country).
With a bit of luck there is the chance of meeting up with wild animals
such as wild boars, various species of deer, pheasants, owls, foxes,
squirrels and, in the mountain area, numerous species of birds such
as the golden eagle, goshawk, peregrine, lanner, eagle-owl and the dotterel.
The farm is also open to visitors who wish to learn the traditional
methods of cultivation. Small quantities of spelt, olive oil, wine,
fruit and vegetables are produced from antique, native species using
only traditional methods.
